The Day Before the Wedding
***
He looks so relaxed as if he doesn’t have a care in the world. Well let me tell you the rest of the story… This day while I was getting ready for my last day of work at Dominion Bankshares, I told Larry that the sale of my house on Greenbriar Avenue could not legally be completed until the basement door was replaced. It had been damaged by termites. And then I went off to work, fully confident that Larry would fix it.
***
Larry sepnt the day working on it with his brother-in-law, Keith. His sister, Mary, who was seven months pregnant, who had just driven from Detroit, Michigan for the wedding, waited patiently while Larry and Keith worked in the basement.
***
I love a man who is always ready to strap on his tool belt.
***
Quiet in the eye of the storm.
***
In the last two weeks, I sold the first house I ever owned, in Roanoke, Virginia, Quit my job as programmer at Dominion Bankshares, Was hired as a programmer at Unionmutual in Portland, Maine, Single-Handedly made all the wedding preparations, Made two costumes and a lacy slip, and arranged a moving company to relocate us to Maine.
***
In the next two weeks, I will Marry the man of my dreams, Spend my honeymoon at the Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia, Pack out my house in one day, Drive to Maine in my eight year old Dodge Dart, Spend a couple of days in Sturbridge, Massachusetts, change my name, and begin working in a new job.
