Those books are the coolest idea and I'm so glad you got to do this for Henry! I'll wager it will be his favorite book. At least mom and dad won't have to read it to him 3,000 times! The picture is precious too. Beautiful, wintery page, Lesley.
This story made me cry, such a heartfelt gift to your DGS,great LO,love the puff paint, what a sweet little man,it must beso hard to say goodbye when you come home!
Oh what a wonderful book with Henry's grandma's voice! (Yours)
I can't think of a better gift for Henry, especially on his first Christmas. THis layout is precious and a classic for sure....A favorite!
LOVED reading your description, Lesley; so sweet and tender. This layout is so beautiful and so unique. That photo is worth 1,000 words! What a sensational and heartwarming layout!
Oh how precious and touching. this is beautiful. Brought me to tears. I hope you get to spend many Christmas's with him but how wonderful to know that he can always hear your voice and feel your love. JoAnn
First what a neat idea!!! THAT is a wonderful wonderful gift --- for Henry AND for you -- the knowledge he will be hearing your voice each Christmas! Fantastic layout!!!
Of course he recognized your voice! I'd never heard of that type of book. I'd love to get one for my kids and have my grandmother read it. This layout is GORGEOUS. I love all of the paint and "snow". Beautiful.
This layout was more about the picture than the design of the page. My dd took us to a 'Hallmarks' store when we visited in November so we could get this book for Henry. It has a recorder device in it so I was able to read the story to him. As he turns each page he will hear my voice reading the story to him, so every Christmas Eve that we aren't able to be with him which will be many I would imagine, he can listen to this, this pic was a classic I thought, with his dad turning the pages he looks like he is really trying to work out where the voice is coming from, and I like to think he is recognising my voice.
The gorgeous paper was really all this needed I thought, it was given to me by my lovely secret santa from a thread on SB.C and included the border with the matching village scene on it.
Once I started though I kept playing and ended up added puffer paint, expanded with my heat gun to (I think) give the 'snow' effect.
Border down left cut on Cricut as were the Stars and the journaling frame.
Journal reads; This book is from nanna and Poppy because we can't always be with you at Christmas Time. You will be able to hear Nanna's voice reading the story of 'The Night Before Christmas' to you, every Christmas Eve.
This book has a recorder box in it which works with the turning of the pages and Nanna recorded the story November 2009.
