Okay... this one completely brought me to tears. Thank you so much, Chris, for all you do. My son, John, is heading over to Iraq in February, so this hits very close to home for me. Safe journey home, Chris -
I love that creating pages is a mutual thing for you and your husband. What a beautiful page, on so many levels. Thanks for sharing it in the forum, and best wishes for your whole family!
I type this with a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes....What a moving tribute to a son.....And an awesome LO and frame to boot! Thanks for sharing this with us. Well done....
Very powerful! Love the journaling...truly heartfelt from a father's love for his son! Beautifully crafted with the cammo ribbon around the picture. Thank you for sharing.
Wonderfully lovin and proud journalling - your husband wrote a beautiful tribute to his son and you have created a fabulous page to showcase it - brilliant job on the challenge, TFS :)
Oh wow your husbands journalling is amazing. I am sure your stepson will be beyond touched when he reads it. I love all the different cammo around the photo! Great LO.
THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THAT ONE! NOW I'M CRYING MY EYES OUT!!! What can I say...awesome LO and you tell you DH that the journaling is sooo heartfelt!! I can't even imagine sending my child off to war. (husband is something else).
I will pray for his safe return!
That is such powerful & emotive journalling. It has moved me to tears. Loved the ribbon in different camoflauge. May your son return to your arms soon.
This is a page I made for my stepson Chris, who is currently in Afghanistan on a 6 month deployment..The ~frame~ around the picture is ribbon in different shades of camoflauge, with words in between that describe who he is..The pictures are some that Chris has sent from Afghanistan.. The jounaling comes from my husband.
~Dad, Im going to Afghanistan~;
and with those words my whole life changed. I've always known how much you loved being in the military and what a proud Canadian you are, but never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that you would be going off to fight in a war. The months leading up to your deployment were more stressful than you will ever know. I kept thinking that you would change your mind or tell me that it was just a joke. August 12th 2006, your deployment day, will go down in the books as the one of the worst days a parent can go through. You dont know how many times I wanted to say to you "you stay" , "I will go" As I waved goodbye to you my heart swelled with pride. You are on my mind constantly. I do whatever I can to pass the time, until you are home again. My son, my firstborn, father of my grandchild, my hero, I am so proud of you and I love you.
