I feel you on this layout. You have both taken out your grief artistically, my favourite way, and done wonderfully with it. Funny thing is, when my shrub & I each wrote our own s*it after we lost our daughter, I journaled out like Brenda & my shrub did a more structured poem-style like you. I think the trellis is a beautiful visual symbol...to me the fact that you worked on that piece the longest means you had a special connection to that element.
Hey seester! This is a beautiful LO! Glad to see the family has the scrapping talent! I love the trelis with the flowers, it is a beautiful detail that both borders the page and adds nice visual interest. I also love the journaling and the fun competition between you and Bren. Beautiful memorial to your gram.
Brenda's seester, this is an awesome page! Love the pp, colors & the trellis w/ the flowers on top is superduper cool! I like how it's vertically placed on the left side, with "Rosa" on the right, very balanced. The descriptions that accompany the spelled out name are very cute. So is Nanang herself! I'm happy you & your sister celebrated her through such beautiful creations. And wonderful that you had so much fun w/ the Cricut. Is gorgeous handwriting hereditary in your family or what? OK the one thing I gotta say is that though I love the descriptions that spell out "Rosa" I personally feel that, for a tribute page of someone who passed, I would put more descriptive, heartfelt words in addition to the "Rosa" stuff. Maybe add a little journaling block above/below "Nanang" w/ a sentence or two talking about who Nanay was to YOU, eg "Nanang was my grandmother, she called me (insert pet name here) & every time I saw her, I couldn't wait for blah blah blah..." You know? That's one reason why I voted for the other LO, it just seemed more substantial in that area. But I'm just that kind of journaler (just ask your seester, me like talkey long time), maybe that's not your taste & that's totally cool. Wonderful & lovely LO overall!
Bren's sis, you did great job on the challenge! The lo is so sweet and I hope creating it helped with the grieving process. " Nanang" looks like sweet little lady and the colors , the flowers, and the journaling really focus on that! Now let's get down to it:) Hats off to you for making the trellis-must of taken forever! Love the flowers too! I would take the blue ribbon from the bottom and use it on top under " in loving memory"-just the pink oval. Put the ribbon from the right side all the way to the trellis. You can even mat the pink oval with white. For " Nanang"-just mat it/the shadow effect with white. I will mat/shadow " Rosa" with white too-it will help stand out and will bring some white to the right side. Here you have it. Hope you share some more of your work with us in the future!
I love the trellis on the left hand side.. and the flowers going up it.. awesome idea. Ok, can I just say that you have got gorgeous handwriting! whew, ok.. I think I would use the shadow effect on the cart. and use that dark purple cs (that "nanang" is cut out in). I love that you used each letter of ROSE to start something about her. This is a great tribute page.
Hi, I love the flowers going up the trellis with the leaves, the colours are great and I love that photo!!! I love that you spelt out her name and wrote about things she likes/did. The placement and simplicity is great. IMO the oval with 'In loving memory' seems to be floating. I would eithier attach it to ribbon or maybe use some brads. The other thing is to matt the R O S E in white to make them stand out from the pp. You did a great job on this LO!
This is not my lo. It is my sister's challenge to my response for the SHCG Weeks #32-33 WC which was to create a lo that does not use at least 2 of the elements that appear on our last 5 los. She mouthed off something about doing a better lo, and I accepted the challenge. Her description appears below.
In Loving Memory: ROSA Rice was her favorite Outdoors she enjoyed Smiling was never hard Adorable was she
I am not an avid scrapper like my sister but I thought it would be fun and annoying to challenge her on creating a better lo using this picture of our grandmother. My sister had her lo planned and sketched out as I was stuck on the one piece of floral paper which I thought went best with the photo. I purposely chose a 5x7 print because I didnt want to fill a space that could be used for creativity with a huge 8x10 print like my sister. The idea of the trellis came overnight after I was tired of watching my sister layer one colored paper after another, I figured why not showcase the flowers behind all those layers. I used my sister's left over flower embellishments and cut out leaves to decorate the trellis. I have to admit the Cricut machine is the best thing ever and I was able to neatly cut out my shapes and letters adding sharpness to my lo. Hee hee!! I knew I had to do some sort of journaling or else I wouldn't even stand a chance in this challenge and by using the letters in her name I tought it was a fast, fun, and easy way to get it all done after spending so much time on the trellis. After a long night I figured I'd call my lo done. I like the simplicity and overall this has helped me in my grieving by celebrating my grandmother's spirit and memories of her life. Thank you girls and keep on scrappin ...b!tches!
