This is the end result of my work for the SHCG BWC #23-Quickie, which was to create a postcard that included the Picasso quote, "Art washes from the soul the dust of everyday life," in just 23 minutes. Since Marlene (MaRLeNeF) was the next person to respond to the challenge, she will be receiving this postcard. The changes I made included inking the edge of the postcard and the torn text strips, distressing the green pp, adding a red hibiscus piece to break up the orange block, and stamping swirls which I hope allow for smoother flow from one text strip to the next. I knew that if I either started over from scratch or made major changes to the original images, I'd obsess over the details and never get it done. I was inspired by Marlene and others' comments on the original, to stick with what I have, and by Sharon's recent two-page scraplift that had fun bright colors. In the end, I am more satisfied with the final results. It feels so good to finally check this off my to-do list.
I finished the first steps on November 20, 2008. I started at 9:48pm and stopped at 10:11pm. I finished the final piece on February 16, 2009 at 5:35pm.
The swirl stamps are a gift from MyNitzza, aka Denitza.
