SHCG: What a fun card. LUV the phrase, you had me at aloha. My only feedback would have been a palm tree in the upper right. But that is probabbly because I have several dozen different types of palm tree stickers, die cuts & stamps in my stash.
SHCG: Holy smokes this is AMAZING!!! It's perfect just the way it is! My fav thing: the eyelashes LOL Every single detail is so darn adorable ~ love it :)
SHCG - Brilliance, Brenda! Where do I start? Great choice of materials w/ the cardboard & the souvenirs papers. And incredible detail on the girl - the eyelashes & lips, colored pencil tan, multi-layered skirt - love her! Thanks for creating her & sharing w/ us! Nice re: fish in netting. I could see shadowing the title for extra oomph but like Denitza, I wouldn't want to draw focus from the girl. My one critique is how the "title" reads out to viewers. I didn't even know what the "had me" on the fish meant (& I like the card too much to care) until I looked up & saw the sb.com title; it just looked like you were designating the girl as "you" & saying "aloha" below her. Maybe move the fish to the right of the girl, so the intended title flows more? Regardless, marvelous card!! And lovely to hear about your memorable vacation (parasailing, eh? waiting for that LO!) :)
SHCG: Amazing card! Step away from it, it's done! I don't think it needs anything more! The corrugated cardboard is like a frame for a great art! I see what you mean about the inking it and bamboo, but I think the ink may take away from the girl! I love the girl-all the personal touches-eyelashes, lips, tan, skirt... show how much though you put behind this card! I also love the caught fish and the flower, and the "Aloha"! Beautiful!
I made this for my dearest friend's milestone birthday with the Life's A Beach Cricut cartridge, which appears to have endless possibilities I love. The corrugated cardboard is from pp packaging. The bg pp and glossy pp were from a souvenir notepad and sheet I got during my first visit to Maui. They have also appeared in my Picasso Postcard, Tropical Inchies, and Language of Love ATCs.
I chose this theme as a nod to several summers ago, when my friend's praise of the island convinced us to go. We had the great fortune of sharing overlapping vacation days when we formed strong, everlasting bonds while ziplining, parasailing, hiking, dining, and taking tons of pictures. We still reminisce about the memories we made while we continue to form new ones.
A couple of notes I'd like to share: The fish is caught in a little mesh net. I snipped the tiniest pieces of black cs and curled them to form eyelashes, and trimmed an even tinier pair of lips which I dented with the curve of my fingernail. I also used color pencils to add some blush and tan skin tones. The grass skirt are made of 3 layers of the same shape, one is flipped and another cropped, to simulate movement. In fact, I think this hula girl kinda looks like her.
