I'm sorry I missed this earlier love. You probably will never see this *sigh* but... I also love the texture and the whole "tiki" thing. Here's my suggestion. I have noticed that you are a sticker fan, which is fine and they are hard to resist, I know. Instead of your free-floating sticker placement, however, why not try placing them in clusters instead? I find that this most often looks better than one here and one there. For instance, in this case I do see the pictures first, which is great, then my eye goes down the title (love your use of the cocktail glass as the "i"), but then I get hung up between the lovely journaling block, the two stickers and the empty spaces. I waver around the journaling, kwim? I would have used that entire package of stickers on this LO. Yes, I know, sounds tacky and it's always hard to use up an entire package of those, because you want to save some of them for "something else later", but bear with me here. A cluster at the top and a cluster at the bottom moving the eye along the entire bottom. Or, actually, you could just leave the mask on to as the only thing there and use the rest along the bottom. Yes, even the little grass skirt and coconut bra... why not? Are you sharing my vision? Probably not. But, I would encourage you to test-drive my theory on a future LO, just to see how you like it! Fin...
Is my margarita on the table there somewhere? Love this lo, its so FUN! I doubt I would have ever thought of the TIKI theme but it fits perfectly! Great job!
I love how textured this LO looks! And the tiki feel goes great with the subject. Those embellishments are darling as well. You did a great job on this!
Brenda, I soooooooo am digging the texture of this one. The mat is so tropical and the stickers DEVINE! I wouldn't change one darn thing about this except put me in the darn picture so I can have a couple of 'tails. The only cocktail parties that I have these days involve a sippy cup and dino-nuggets! Great LO! You are the top of the TIKI-girlfriend!
Ooh, this brings back memories (and some "forgets" too!) I occasionally miss the Friday nights with the non-profit gang and, yes, learned lots about them...and what a drop-shot was...I love the tiki feel to this and the cocktail that you used for an I. Dang, you've made me thirsty & it's only 10 a.m. ;-)
love the journaling box with the pineapple. You rocked the photo placement grrrl. I see some photo corners on the photo group to pop it up a bit. That looks like so much fun at that happy hour!
This is for Week 12 of the SHWC, called "Favorite Word." I have to give much thanks to March Page Maps by Becky Fleck for the sketch that helped me get this done. I might change the journaling and I'm sorry for the poor scan and stitch job. Also, there's actually more green space down the right side of the page.
Journaling reads: I look forward to that first drink after work on Friday nights.
Once a month, I arrange Happy Hour for a group of equally thirsty colleagues. We always end up having such a good time--sometimes too good. Each time we learn new things about each other that we just don't have the luxury of sharing while we're at work. Some of our favorite topics include our top 3 male celebrities who we fantasize about, who we'd "do" among the men at work (only if they were the last ones left on the face of the earth), and what drink we plan on having next.
