Journaling:
When Max and Sam were babies, I’m afraid I was often guilty of wishing away their baby stages. When they were newborns, I’d say, “I can’t WAIT until they can sleep through the night!” Then when they were sleeping through the night, I’d say, “I can’t wait until they can sit up on their own”. When they sat up on their own, I’d say, “I can’t wait until they can crawl!” then “I can’t wait until they can walk and talk!” and so on. I was so excited about each upcoming developmental milestone that I didn’t enjoy the present stage as much as I should have. Luke, now that you’re here, Max and Sam seem so old, so big, and so independent compared to your tiny little self. I just want you to stay little for as long as possible. The milestones will come for you, too, of course, but I’m going to enjoy your itty-bitty wonder while it lasts, because your big brothers are proof that time goes by much too quickly.
