This is my daughter Dodie. I was a foster parent for over ten years. We got her when she was eight. We adopted her when she was 17. If I had know I could've done it sooner, I would have. She was lost in the system. ...The kids don't know whether to go forwards or backwards. Everybody always thought she was my own child. She always was, but not on paper. She looks very much like her birth mother, who is 1/2 Lakota. Dodie was born in Minnesota. She is now a cross country truck driver...She has a baby named Jakob Ryder. Her dad is taking care of him in another city. He's in good hands. Will try to get his pix scanned to show off. I've been really lazy.
One day we got a subpoena to go to juvenile court with Dodie. No explanation. She was 14. She didn't know why!! We got into court and the court master informed us that her and some five year old boys had gotten into somebody's shed and poured paint all over it. I looked at her and said "Dodie" you're 14, did you really do this" She lowered her head and said "yes". Why? dunno. So, she lost her allowance for a couple of months. I walked out with a red face and looked at the mother of the five year olds and said "do you know what they did" She said "nope".
She is my pride and joy too and I absolutely intend to get to meet my grand son some day!
