We drove an hour each way to pay double what we would have at our usual grocery store, but it was a fun experience! John had learned about apples at preschool that week and told us you should twist the apple so you don't hurt the tree. He was a VERY careful picker! We ended up with about 11 pounds of fruit. We picked about 6 or 7 different kinds of apples, some of which I'd never heard of before, 4 genuine tree-ripened peaches, and also bought 2 each of 2 varieties of asian pear. They'd had a poor year for peaches and only 1 tree had any left, but the flavor and juiciness were heavenly!
