Very nice!! Love everything about it-placement, styles, colors...you did a good job, and it is different than most! I like that about it too! Like how the script complements the swirls!
I love this lo.........Your Dad must be my age...if he is the child in the photo.!!!! I can tell you that if this is 1946 then WWII was just ending.....and times had been very tough....women worked in factories, while the men fought and died all over Europe, Africa and the South Pacific. Everything was rationed, butter, shoes, gas....most everything. It was the beginning of re-cycling as everything was saved, taken to stations and re used to build tanks, planes etc. We saved newspaper, string, tin cans etc.....we grew veggie gardens.....even in the City of Detroit where I grew up! And I would say YES to answer your question. Adults worried about things we have no conception of now. Parents sheltered their children from the war news, and most bad stuff.....there was no TV then, so it was pretty easy. The only news I heard was Lowell Thomas over the radio at dinner time, The Eyes and Ears of the News at the movies inbetween the serial and the main show.....and whatever the other kids talked about. We were allowed two pair of shoes every year.....there was nothing plastic.....lots of rubber ...I remember my baby sister had rubber pants over her diaper. Ballroom dancing and radios were very big.....and on Sat night we listened to the
American Hit Parade on the radio......if you lived in the south, it was grand ole oprey. In many ways it was an easier time....the rules were more clearcut.....but there were rules that seem terrible now. It was a wonderful time to grow up as you could play outside, ride your bike to the park, or the woods and stay for hours......as long as we were home for dinner we were not in trouble. I know my parents worried about stuff, money, "what the world was coming to" and alot of the same stuff we worry about now. It is just very scary now....at least from my point of view. But I love cell phones, computers etc....I could not be sharing all this with you in 1946!!!!! <smile>
