Great layout and a wonderful story. Mostly though, I love that you captured this funny little moment for posterity. Dogs, even! They're so silly and so amazing.
Cute story and dogs! Love the touches of gray throughout your layout and the green paper w/ the washi tape worked out really well; no way I would have thought it was to cover up an error!
I love your journaling. Who knew that pets had sibling rivalry. LOL. Love your use of the washi tape to separate the sections of the layout. Great spatters and clusters.
Funny story! Poor Fezzik, not getting to see where he was going and missing out on the petting as well. I think you covered your gesso goof beautifully. Serendipitious goofs like that give you a chance to expand your creative thinking process. Well done!

The Process: With the exception of one mistake, it came together pretty easily. I knew I wanted to challenge my usual blue/green color palette, so I printed the photo in black and white. I did this by importing the photo into Photoshop, choosing Filters>Camera Raw Filter, and dropping the saturation as low as it would go. For the color scheme, I chose orange-yellow-green for my palette. I found a few bits and scraps in my stash, and some ink in my ink drawer, and voila!
I mentioned one mistake. The original page had the orange stripes covering almost the entire page, which didn't leave me much of a journaling surface. I thought I'd tone the stripes down with some white gesso. That turned into a hideous mess. So I sat there, in a mild panic wondering what I could do to salvage the layout, when I noticed that my green paper had one scrap just big enough to cover the mess. I glued it down, ran some washi along the seam, and I actually like this better than what I had in my head.
The Story: Up until this year, we used to have our vet make a, “farm call,” to our house because we had horses. Since we re-homed the horses, we don't need the farm call. We still have three dogs and three indoor cats, which is way too many furbabies for two people to manage at one time. So, we split the vet visits in two. We thought that bringing the two big dogs on the first day, and the small dog and all three cats on the second day, would be the smart thing to do.
Then Buttercup (our female Saint Bernard) spent most of the drive doing everything in her power to keep Fezzik (her big brother) from being able to look through the gap between the front seats. He loves to watch where we're going, and he loves going to the vet. But, that's also where they have to put their heads to get petted, and she wasn't going to share the attention.
