SHCG: Jen, I'm sorry I didn't respond to this sooner. I had an idea I'd been meaning to share with you, but just couldn't get around to doing it. I read your description and I'm glad you didn't outline the snowflakes in black ink. I like what the white line around the page adds to it. Your nephew's smile is so bright and is nicely accented by the rhinestones in your lettering and your snowflakes. When you posted this for your critique you wrote that you thought it was missing something. Right away, I pictured a gold ribbon slide on the right side of the page to unite the ribbons and mirror Santa's buckle. My only critique is not to have so many snowflakes, and just place three of them around the bottom left corner of the photo. Otherwise, I like your simple color scheme and elements.
SHCG: I really like this as is; you don't want to detract from your awesome pic! The white border does finish it off nicely- great idea! Love how you ran the title around the pic.
SHCG - That's a great photo, it seriously looks like it's from a mall catalog, it's a more modern Norman Rockwell image. What a cutie!! I love the color scheme & choice of embellies - the red rhinestones on the snowflakes & letters are the perfect finishing touch to those. I think this is a great page as is but since you'd like to add something, I can see adding some more emphasize the pic... like adding white doodles/dots like Janet suggested, but I'd prefer them around the picture, stopping where the "Hey Santa" is. Or, as Chris suggested, a white photo corner. Cool "pic in the circle" placement, I usually prefer off-center placement for more visual interest, but this is still a wonderful page. Beautiful work, Jen - lovely, classy & festive!
SHCG: Very cute page! I love Janet's suggestion of doodling around the red circle -- dots, fake stitching, something like that. That could also go for the corners. I like the look of dots and dashes combined in corners, and maybe that would work here, in white. OR...just use white photo corners in each of the corners, slightly off from the natural corner (so you still have the black edge).
SHCG: Isn't he a cutie! I am proud to say I know him firsthand... we had dinner last week in fact. Fun page. One thing I would add is some doodling or white dots at the edge of the red circular paper.
The snowflakes are die-cuts that came with a card-making kit, it's hard to see in the photo but I added a red rhinestone to the center of each. I kind of wanted to outline each of these in black, but thought that would take an eternity (plus I only had these eight, no extra's if I screwed up!) The letters are also die-cuts that I outlined and added red rhinestones to. The photo is double matted in black and white, and the white mat is outlined in black ink.
I kind of feel like this needs something more, maybe in the upper corners, but I'm not sure what....
EDIT: I drew a white line around the outside edge of the black sheet and I think that finishes it for me!
