I had so many great pictures from this trip that I simply could not choose just one or two. Even with 5 it was extremely difficult to decide which one will make it on the page. I wanted the design to be rather simple and for the pics not to look crammed. I remembered seeing similar design somewhere and I knew it'll work nicely for this page. Journaling is as usually long and hidden behind the orange layer. It reads:

Dusty and Ancient Lakes

After a strong winter we had this year hiking in a peaceful area of Dusty and Ancient Lakes in Eastern Washington and feeling a warm breeze was such a nice treat.
We first took the Dusty Lake trail and followed it to a very serene lake where we stop for a lunch. The place was so relax we spend about an hour chilling on the lake's shore.
Afterwards we continued our adventure to Ancient Lake. The trail split with one fork leading through the middle of the valley while the second fork kept closer to the top. Several people decided to take the valley route, while other went on the upper trail. Considering the area was being open with no tall vegetation and we could see each other at all times so it was safe to do; however this separation did not last too long. After about 2 minutes the valley group announces quite loudly they came across a rattlesnake. Curious we all joined them to see it. Even I did, despite the fact that I hate snakes and I'm absolutely terrified of them. I was so proud of myself.

Brief discussion took place and in the end we decided it did not look like a rattle snake - since it had no rattle - but it still was a snake - so we snapped few pics from a safe distance and then the snake decided it had enough of our attention and slithered across our trail into the bushes.

The rest of the way to Ancient Lake did not provide any more wildlife excitement and everybody could enjoy this beautiful picturesque valley. Our trail led us to a wonderful viewpoint, just perfect for a group shop and then we continued along the shore, scrambling over a short talus field, to the waterfall where we took another longer break in this unbelievably relaxing location.

After arrival home I did some research and the snake we saw was a Gopher Snake – absolutely harmless, non poisonous kind. That fact made me very happy.
