It’s a family tradition to spend Mother’s Day at my in-law’s property at Lake Chelan. This year was not different. Since it’s about 2.5 hours drive we planned to leave at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning but we ended up staying up quite late on Friday watching movie so we’re like: “Maybe we can set the alarm for 7:00 a.m. and leave around 8:00 a.m.” Sounded like a good plan but when the alarm got off, we did not feel like getting up at all so finally we managed to crawl out of the bed at 8:00 a.m. Fortunately we had everything packed so we managed to be at Chelan before noon – just for lunch. Tell me about perfect timing. It was surprisingly cold this year with clouds spread across the sky but it actually worked well since we had a mountain bike ride planned for the afternoon and we truly appreciated the fact we did not have to deal with the usual heat. Sunday turned out to be the better day with at least some sunshine. My MIL and SIL both wanted to visit several of the local wineries and since they were the Mother’s there that’s what we did. I’m not too much of a drinker but I found the winery hopping rather interesting. However the best thing I tasted that day was home made honey mustard made by one of the wineries and that’s what I treated myself to.
