I'm so used to seeing this living here in Texas it's such an 'eye sore' and I agree with Linnny and Krista, not all progress comes with positive results!!
Amazing that we just keep plugging along doing the same old thing when better ideas are out there. I hope common sense takes hold before the oil activity gets closer to your ranch.
You forgot to say that ND is also the heathiest state economically too. I wish Pat's Mom wanted to sell her house and move to an apartment near her sister, she would get a great price right now. Love the photo, better than the newspaper ones.
The same thing happened here when all of the wind turbines went up...rent went from $300 a month for a 3 bedroom house to $650+ and now that the outfit has moved on the prices haven't changed so there are empty houses and people without homes...doesn't make sense to me.
My world is being changed by all of the oil activity in our area. This is a drilling rig right along Interstate 94 between Belfield and Dickinson, North Dakota. At night the prairie is light by drilling rigs and the flares of new oil wells. The immediate area around us hasn't been hit hard yet but we do feel the effects of the Bakken oil play. The boom has brought lots of jobs to western North Dakota but along with that has come many problems-a housing shortage, traffic on roads on built of a constant stream of big trucks, increased crime, drug problems, environmental problems.
