I love the idea behind this lo so much you may see one in my gallery. It looks a little busy but I still wouldn't chang a thing. These are the king of pages that our children will treasure!
WOW! This is awesome! Love how you combined the 2 arts (paper and fabric) by incorporating the pic of the quilt and making a quilt -like design on your page!! 2 thumbsup!
I can't keep my eyes dry. Wow, wow, wow. I love every piece of this--the sentiment of making a quilt from his clothes, the amazing way that you used the pics of him in those clothes (my own guess is you had the pics first and worked your way back to find the matching clothes...?) but, also, to me this epitomizes a storytelling layout...one with multiple layers, touching on multiple senses. Okay, off to find kleenex...again!
HOLY FRIGGIN CARP THIS IS AWESOME. Tiff, you amaze me - I LOVE the quilt, the photos of him in the quilt-clothes, the tiny clothes, the idea, the placement, the sentiment, the quote, the everything! I do agree that having his age & the years would enhance this, especially from a historic perspective...you'll want that info for the future. Otherwise, supersupersuper! LOVE THIS. (insert "I'm not worthy" cow-towing smiley here).
Ok... SUPER! First off I commend you on your ability to pull things together. I would have never been able to find all the clothes and then pictures of him in them to match! SUPER MOM! Secondly this page just screams quilt to me and I love it. He will so appreciate this when he gets older. I wouldn't change a thing.
OMG i cannot believe you have a picture with him wearing each piece of clothing. I am truly amazed by this LO. Everything is so perfect. It is definitely a tear jerker, and I know he will greatly appreciate you doing this for him and feel so special with those words you wrote for him. I think this is absolutely perfect and wouldn't change a thing.
Wow, Tiff! What a lot of work, but worth it for the memories you are preserving! I love that you took a pic of the actual quilt and, of course, that you actually made one with each patch containing both the actual fabric and Jake wearing the corresponding piece of clothing. That is such a cool idea. I like both of K's suggestions. I also wonder how you feel about putting a pair of itty-bitty clothespins at the top corners of each photo. Better yet, keep it simple, and just put a pair at the top corners of the quote block. One last thing, does this fit the size qualifications for Lucky 7?
Oh-M-G!!! Tears welling... you did it! One of the "most awesomest" LO's ever!! Wouldn't change a thing except for having tissues on hand... maybe a secret compartment in the album? (okay now that I read the other comments, yea the ages would be great as long as their not distracting)
Tiff, this is beautiful! You put a lot of work into it! I love that you took pics of Jake wearing the clothes! Love the mini quilt! I, too, agree with the idea of putting Jake's age-may be you can cut strips of cs and put them directly on the photos.
Hi Tiff! Wow, this layout was a lot of work and it looks fabulous. The colors, story, and placement are really great. The only thing I would do is write Jake's age in all of the photos in the right lower corner cause I think those photos are over a time span?
I also think I would take your Crict and cut out "Quilt" and put it on the seams as a title.
This layout has a lot of meaning to me. A dear friend of mine (that I'll call Flynnda) made this quilt for me using scraps of Jake's baby clothes. To the left of the picture of the quilt are pieces of the same clothes sewn together to mimic a quilt and pictures of Jakey wearing the clothes featured. The quote says, " The heart hath its own memory, like the mind, and in it are enshrined the precious keepsakes. These little thoughts are the rustle of leaves; they leave their whisper of joy in my mind." -Rabindranath Tagore. The hidden journaling (pull tab under the quilt) reads, "Jake, these memories of you are truly a treasure to me. Simply running my finger across these garments, common as they may be, moves me beyond words. Although I treasure these scraps and these pictures, you in my life is one of the greatest gifts I have ever received. Thank you "Flynnda" for creating this amazing piece of "heart"!"
