This is a Fourth of July layout I did last year.

Journalling:
In the face of tragedy, America, no matter the debates or the difference of opinions, has pulled together and has continued to solidified what we stand for.. ..FREEDOM. A stronger America giving hope and faith to all Americans….. ... …young and old. But America is not just about freedom but about UNITY and with this strength in mind, we will be able to kiss our children goodnight and know that tomorrow will be a better day and that our America is still the BEST and SAFEST place to be.

A moment of peace shared by Tony and our youngest daughter MJ made much more poignant as I realize, later on, by the STARS & STRIPES hanging quietly behind them. In all our busy schedules and preoccupations a moment of peace is something we should never neglect. It is a chance of reflection on many important things we tend to overlook in our everyday lives.....make the effort to reflect on love, on family and on freedom.

Technique: I layered the patterned papers for the title. I painted on the transparency before running it through my printer to print on top of the paint. I noticed that it does tend to flake off the transparency so it adds to the shabby chicness of the patterned paper and the flag in the photo.
