What a warm looking layout and the content of that amazing journaling is even more heart-warming. First and second prizes - wow! And that wonderful money gift. But, most of all, what a great family time that turned out to be. The layout really is beautiful and it will always bring back such special memories for you all - great that grandpa got included too.
This is such an awesome double page!!! I love the way it looks, the journaling, and that you added the actual ribbons is just wonderful! What a great memory!!
I love that you put the ribbons with the pics and that you told the whole story of how the pumkins came to be and all the way through to what you did with the winnings. Can't wait to see how big next years pumpkins weigh in.
This is a touching story of family blessings. A beautiful LO and great pictures. Wonderful Job! I also like the pockets fro the ribbons. Have fun with this next year!
Great LO, and what a wonderful story! I think this should count for this weeks challenge - you used the word blessing, something to be thankful for; and I'm sure this will be a Christmas memory, as that is where the prize went. Now to convince the scrap-police!
Journaling says it all: It's amazing how much a couple of pumpkins can do for a family. When Ray's pumpkin seeds from preschool didn't make it, Brad went out and bought Atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds. We really enjoyed watching them grow and Ray helped water them and loved showing them to friends and neighbors. When it was evident that they were going to be quite large, Brad went looking for a pumpkin contest to enter them in. And wouldn't you know it, Boyert's Nursery was going to hold their very first Largest Pumpkin Contest! So, on the day of the competition, Grandpa came over to help and we took them to a certified scale and then to the nursery. Ours were the first pumpkins there. We returned at the time set for awarding the prizes to find out that only 2 more pumpkins were entered and they weren't as big as ours! Weighing in at 118 1/2 and 87 1/2 pounds, we won 1st and 2nd prize! It was very exciting and so much fun! To make things even better, we won a total of $500! We went out for dinner at the Dairy Queen down the road and the rest went for much needed Christmas money. At a time when we weren't sure how we were going to provide a good Christmas for the kids, this was a real blessing for us. And next year, Brad has promised pumpkins twice the size of these!
