Photo of my grandma when she was about 4. PP's by K & Co. Hmm...I seem to be stuck in a stitching/butterfly phase don't I? lol Oh well...To do the flowers I cut out circles using my new Martha Stewart circle cutter (Christmas present from my brother- wasn't that sweet?) and then distressed the edges. The little pearls on the scallops were sewn to the page. For days I stared at this layout trying to think up some journaling before I decided to just go to my Grandma and ask her to tell me a little about her childhood. Journaling reads:

"On April 3, 1925, my grandmother Ruth Aquilla Pace was born. Times were much simpler then. Rather than being delivered in a hospital by doctors & nurses, she was delivered at home by her father & her older sister Tori. Ruth was the baby of her family, with 9 older brothers & sisters. During her childhood she lived on a farm in Amboy, Georgia. Her father William Wesley Pace was a preacher who traveled to different churches every Sunday. When I asked her what he was like she told me that he was very strict & you had better do what he said. But he had a humorous side as well. He loved to play jokes on people. Sometimes he would let her ride in the wagon with him. They would ride to the field where the boys worked. She said that was a big treat for her. When Ruth was 2, her family got their first car- a '27 Chevy. She said she remembered it being very square in the back. Before they got that car they had always ridden in the wagon. She also told me a little about life on the farm. Her mother swept the yard every Saturday so that it would be clean on Sunday. She recalled that there were always chickens in the yard so you had to be careful where you stepped. She also told me about her playhouse under the fig tree where she took her baby dolls to feed them. Her favorite doll was Betty Jane. When this photo of her & her father was taken she was around 3 or 4 years old. It was on the farm & they were standing next to the front porch. She was wearing cotton stockings- that's what all the girls wore back then. She told me she was squinting away from the sun because she had injured her eye when she was 2….Yes, times were much simpler back then. I'm so glad that I still have my grandma here to tell me these things. It's nice being able to put stories with these photos…..

Journaling: January 6, 2009"

Thanks so much for looking!!!
