This is a tribute to our dog, Ginger. Journaling reads:

"Whenever we talk about Ginger, we always refer to her as “the sweet one”. And she was- Ginger was the sweetest dog we’ve ever had. She first came to live with us in 1998. My parents had gone for a walk down at the creek near our house and there was Ginger. She followed them home that day and that was that. We went from one dog to two. For a little while, she lived in the house with us. At night we would let her go down to the basement, where she claimed our pool table as her new bed. About seven or eight months after we got Ginger, my parents decided to fence in our front yard, since she had grown tall enough to prop her head on the dinner table while we were eating. Somewhere in the midst of all that, another stray (Buddy) had wandered up, and so the two became three. Ginger and Buddy became our outside dogs. They were an odd couple for sure- Ginger, the 120 lb. Great Dane, and Buddy, the thirty lb. mutt- but they soon became the best of friends. Whenever we had visitors, Ginger and Buddy always let us know. Most people were scared of Ginger. For some reason they thought she would jump our SIX FOOT fence and attack them. But the truth is that dog wouldn’t have hurt a fly. She was scared of her own shadow. I don’t remember her ever trying to bite anyone, or even growl at them for that matter. She always just wanted to be petted and loved. Like I said, she was the sweetest dog.
This May, it will have been a year since we had to say goodbye to Ginger. It was around last January when we noticed the tumor on her head. The vet told us that because of where it was located, there was nothing that could be done. The best thing to do would be to just let her live those last few months in peace and to let her go when the time came. Unfortunately, that time came while my parents were out of town and it was left up to Joshua and me to take Ginger to the vet. It was, without a doubt, the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. I cried the whole trip there and the whole trip back. I’m so glad that Joshua was able to go inside with her and hold her paw so she wouldn’t have to be alone. Even though it’s been almost a year, I still miss her like crazy and I know Buddy misses her, too. Sometimes I look outside still expecting to see Ginger lying on the front porch taking a nap. It’s hard not having her here anymore, but I can take comfort in the fact that she’s no longer in any pain and she lived a long and happy life…

On this page I used pp's, rub-ons, and stickers from Basic Grey's "Origins" line. The stitching was hand doodled with a Signo pen. Since the journaling was so long, I had to stick it to the back of the page.

Thanks for looking!!
