A layout challenge to journal about a favorite childhood toy. Journaling: This is the story about my dear old childhood friend, Cottontail. I met Cottontail Easter of 1977 behind my laundryroom doors. He was waiting expectantly in a basket atop our washing machine. He was a very special blue bunny who slept with me nightly. Oh how I loved him! I remember one day, when I thought I was going to lose him forever! :( My mother had washed him in the washing machine, but he didn't dry completely on the inside and started to smell moldy. My parents came to Cottontail's rescue and performed surgery. He had all of his fluffing replaced. When I was about fifteen, my mother was doing an uber-spring cleaning and wanted to get rid of Cottontail. She just didn't feel I needed him anymore. I fought to keep him, but she won out and Cottontail left the household. :( Years later, I told the story to my mother-in-law. Wouldn't you know what showed up for me in a basket the following Easter? A little blue bunny! Of course I had to name him Cottontail! It was at that moment that I truly knew how much my mother-in-law cared for me...to remember my silly story and to give me such a valuable gift. My children sometimes sleep with Cottontail. This whole experience has made me realize the importance of keeping old "childhood friends". Whether the girls are 10 or 25, I'll never make them part with their treasures!
