I’ve traveled the road of pokes and sticks
the medication so far has made me quite sick
I’ve sat in that chair for hours on end
and gotten zapped by my radiation friend
Though I will miss the doctors and staff
Leaving the center today will make me laugh
Angels are watching and comfort me
as I sing out with such a joyful glee
“I’m done with my treatment” I wish to yell,
And with all my strength I ring this bell.
I found the poem on line, it was used for a bell dedication at a cancer center in MN. I had to change it a bit to use on a card for her though because she still has to through the chemo that she couldn’t do during the radiation, so not all of it applied. The poem they had her read today was a bit different from this as well.
