I suspect that the whole thing has alot more to do with being permitted to build on adjoining land than actually protecting any wildlife, but if the "natural flow of water is being preserved perhaps it is still doing some good somewhere.
What a lovely shot - great angle and perspective, 'Red :) We have a lot of protected wetland areas here and, like this place, it's often rare to see any of the wildlife...

We have a similar area along side a HUGE shopping area and a major highway. I've heard all sorts of birds nest there, but I've never seen a thing but MUCKY water and big wetland weeds. Makes for a nice photo though.
I went to do a little shopping today. The outlet mall is built in a outdoor courtyard style. In the center are these protected wetlands. They are very pretty but I have never seen any of the species they are trying to protect. It sits about 20 feet lower than the mall and is surrounded by brick walls and wrought iron fence.
Does this project or one of it's images contain pornography, profanity, or other illegal or offensive material? If so, please report it and our moderators will come by and clean it up in a flash.
