I just had to share this photo of my once in a lifetime experience. This photo was taken at the Pima County Fair in April, 2001. This is an adolescent tiger named Niko. I absolutely LOVE tigers. Always have. And when I went to the fair that year, there were these people that were letting people take pictures with the tigers they had. They ranged from tiger cubs to adolescent aged tigers. They were charging $10 for the pictures with the tigers and it was something I just couldn't pass up. My friends that were with me thought I was absolutely crazy to do it. But I had to. They were taking pictures with one of the tiger cubs and then right when it was going to be my turn, they decided the cub needed a break. They had me sit down in the chair and much to my surprise (and delight), the new tiger they brought out was Niko. They led him on my lap & I held the bottle. And then usually they just snap the picture real quick & you're done. But when they went to snap the picture, they realized they were out of film, so I got to have Niko on my lap while they reloaded the camera. It was so amazing! I sat there & held the bottle & pet Niko while they loaded the film. Then they snapped the picture and that was it. You couldn't wipe the smile off my face for anything after that. It was an experience I knew that I would be telling for a long time to come. The people with the tigers have never been back at the fair since that year. From what I understand, they actually didn't have the licensing & insurance or whatever to do what they were doing. So it truly was a once in a lifetime experience. :-)
