Thanks NJ...I have a Panasonic DMC-FZ5 (which I LOVE). It's not an SLR, but it does have adjustable features..in this pic, I focused on Bobby (striped tabby) then physically moved the camera to fit bear into the background....so Bobby stayed sharp but Bear was fuzzy...I meant to throw my user guide into my purse so I can have it on hand to play around...
adorable kitties :) Not sure what kind of camera you are shooting with, but if you have adjustable Fstops that's what you need to adjust to blur out the background... turn the F stop down (as low a number) as it will go for the lens you are using and the background will blur out.
