To begin, I like to keep the wire on the spool rather than cutting it, but you could cut a piece if you choose. Most words will take about 8-12 inches of wire.

Step 1- get comfortable holding the wire. Try both hands to see which is better. I'm right handed, so I usually start with the wire in my left hand.

Step 2- Start with a little curl at the end, I start many of my letters this way. You could also make it more of a circle, and use a brad inside to secure to the paper.

Step 3- Use your pliers to curl the end under.

Step 4- Using your fingers, work the wire into a larger curl, and bring it down to start the S shape.

Step 5- Still using fingers, curl wire back into the bottom of the S.

Step 6- Using the same technique as you did at the top, work the bottom of the S. I like the look of this and it sets you up nicely for the next letter.
