A LO about my BIL and his girlfriend. Pictures were taken in Colonial Williamsburg in 2010. Journaling says: I had such a good time with Kerry and Squid at Colonial Williamsburg in May 2010. I love watching their relationship grow and flourish. They’re so cute together. Sometimes, it causes me a pang, because it reminds me of the relationship I had and lost. Most of the time, though, I’m just so overjoyed to see him happy. Like every couple, they disagree. Sometimes, they fight over petty little things, and having been where I’ve been and experienced the loss that I have, I want to smack their heads together and remind them of what they have in each other. Then I have to stop and remind myself that these are steps they need to take on their own. Those arguments are sometimes necessary to air their grievances and strengthen their relationship. Then I watch them laugh and goof off together, and it also reminds me that I can keep my big nose out of it and just let them be. They’re going to be just fine. Being the big sister doesn’t always make me right (although I hate to admit that) and it sure as heck doesn’t mean that I know everything (shhhh…). They’re making their way the best way they can, together. I am blessed to get to stand on the sidelines and watch their progress. And hopefully, one day, Maddie won’t be the only niece (or nephew) that I get to spoil! For now, they’ve given me a glimpse of what can be for the two of them, and it makes my heart glad. 5/5/2012
