SASSY!!!!This is a true masterpiece....a perfect 10!!!I feel as though I've stepped back in time. Its like finding that old trunk and opening it up to find a pot of gold!!!!
This is a beautiful work of art... I love how it pulls me in to see all the detail yet my eye totally finds the focus on the beautiful picture first... Wonderful job!
this is really beautiful.. you look a lot like you mom btw! you did a great job on the techniques.. I love those alcohol inks they rock.. this is a great page..... just beautiful!
There is a lot going on here but it just adds to the charm of the layout. I love the vintageness of a lot of your elements. Maybe it's the alcohol inks that make them seem that way. Very nicely done!
Oh wow this is beautiful, I love all that stuff you did. Amazing. I will try some of scrapperlicious (Irene) stuff that is also beautiful. Great tribute to your Mom.
This was a picture of my mom in 1945. I was just a toddler and my brother had just been born. This is for fablady's Mother Challenge and the STW Challenge to use some of Irene's (scrapperlicious) techniques. Sorry about the glare on the word Mother but I couldn't get rid of it, even not using the flash. I love Irene's talent and wanted to try some on my own, however I always tend to overdo things. There's a lot going on here, makes me dizzy. But I sure had fun. Hope in a miniscule way it compliments Irene.
These are the techniques I used: I inked the edges of the background paper with Worn Lipstick and Black Soot distressed inks Tim Holtz). Then masked a doily behind the picture (looks much better IRL) and randomly inked the background with faded lipstick and peeled paint distressed ink. I stamped words and flowers on the background paper in black ink for some depth.
I used alcohol inks on the stamped image of the leaves and flowers on transparency up the right side of the page and also some on the right between the photo and the pink swirl on the left (hard to see). Also stamped the Title on transparency and inked with alcohol inks.
The flower bottom left was a find at a garage sale (the large palmetto flower), and the round blingy thing was a scarf pin at the same sale. Irene puts a lot of stuff like these things in her lo's and I love it. I put prima flowers layered in the center with a gold heart on top (same sale).
Lower left I made a doily flower and inked it, and the note on the left I used the crumpled paper technique and inked with distressed inks.
I'm getting awfully tired of explaining everything, I'm not good at it, so if you like it let me know and if you don't tell me what I need to fix. Oh, forgot to mention the butterflies top right, and the heart is grunge board that I heat-embossed in gold.
The quote on the oval transparency on the left of the photo says "1 daughter plus 1 mother equals Best Friends" - author unknown.TFL
Edit: forgot to mention the stamped roses top and bottom of photo. I used watercolor pencils to color the roses and leaves. :)
