This is my current crochet project. I've never done this type of block before, but that doesn't stop me from trying to "make it my own" aka "let's see how many miles of stitching I can end up tearing out, because my bright idea/color combo did not work out at all." I actually did end up tearing out the last row in this pic, because I misinterpreted the instructions.
