O my heart! I had the identical experience with our O No! but she rallied and the vet at the humane society took her back and rebuilt her digestion with probiotics. It was touch and go when we got her back and every so gradually she began to gain weight and not have very runny poo. We gave her electrolytes that you give babies. She lived and now we have found she has a heart murmur too. She will not live as long as most cats but will do okay.
Your story touches me.
A memorial to my foster kitten Squee. It was so hard for us to have to put him down, especially since he was the first kitten we considered adopting ourselves.
Journaling reads: I have to admit that I chose you and your brothers to foster because of your names. Keith, Topher, and Squee. You were the one who cinched the deal! When you first came to us, you were in poor shape. You were at half the weight and size you should have been. I had to give you wet food to help you gain weight. You liked it so much, that you always would have some dried on the end of your nose from pigging out. Since you had poor nutrition, you also had runny poo. I remember I had to give you a bath nearly every day to wash off your tail. (Which of course, you hated). Finally the day came when I was able to teach you how to move your tail out of the way. No more baths for little Squee! (You liked that). You were fairly stand-offish at first, especially since your brothers were pushy. But once you got to know us, you were a little love bug. I will never forget how you would nuzzle with us and give us kisses. Once we found out you were sick, we did everything we could to make sure you would be as comfortable as possible. It was hard for us to watch you, knowing what the future held. I am just glad to know that we gave you a better life while you were with us. You will forever be in our hearts
