Karen, this is a fave for absolutely sure!!! What a beautiful story and journaling and I love that it is written in that little notebook and tag! Are we ever ready to let them go..no!! Just look at that gorggeous face...there's just something about the expressions on the faces of Labbies...so kind and gentle and sweet! Ginger was beautiful...inside and out!! Absolutely love this from corner to corner!
Oh my, Karen, Ginger certainly was an outstanding doggie. She certainly could have given my dog some lessons on good behaviour. What heartfelt, gracious and touching journaling; you are so articulate. The photo is simply gorgeous. How lucky you are that you had such a wonderful doggie and vice versa. Now, my friend, you have tender and sweet memories of Ginger. LOVE this remarkble tribute to Ginger!
Karen, these are such lovely memories written so beautifully. They brought back so many memories of the series of black labs that filled my childhood! Not one of the 3 were as perfect as your Ginger, but they were all sweet, loving, and loved companions. I particularly remember a ride we took where Butch accompanied us, "sharing" the back seat with all 4 of us little kids. He was supposed to sit on the floor, but very gradually he took over the bench seat until by the time we reached our destination and mom and dad opened the back door, Butch was stretched across the seat and we kids were scrunched up on the floor!
Your page is so darling too. I love the tag and that bone border! Thanks for sharing your memories of Ginger.
Karen, what a treat for heart and soul to see this wonderful creation....brought tears to my eyes...what a sweet story and tribute to lovely Ginger!!!! Love the paw print paper....border/frame of her pic. The little notebook and hidden journaling is fantastic....what a great idea. Ginger would love every single thing about this...mostly that you did it for her! Hugs, Maureen
I know how you feel we lost our Jack Russell dog.He was attacked on our patio when we were not home.Someone opened the gate and a husky dog attacked him and broke his back.My boys were so devistated when they saw him like that. How we know it was the neighbors dog was the guy told us a couple of days later, and then he had the nerve to laugh about it.I wanted to get him charged but my husband was too kind and would not charge him.Russell was also very protective of us.God Bless,Shirlk
Oh Karen! this is just amazing. I love the layout you have put together as a tribute to your lovely Ginger. You can see in her eyes what a beautiful dog she was...and she and Kobe have so much in common in many ways (except the bath bit!) This is so touching...and yes once again I have tears in my eyes after viewing one of your beautiful layouts! P.S. than you so much for the encouraging message you sent me...that was very sweet of you!
This is Ginger, a beautiful Chocolate Lab, and she was The Perfect Dog. There are journaling tags inside the notebook cover page that tell just a few of the things that made Ginger the perfect dog. She lived a long life but died before any of us were ready to let her go. Journaling: If ever there was a perfect dog, Ginger was it. She had the sweetest, most gentle disposition and loved everyone - two or four-legged! ~ She once helped me rescue a very sick cat who would not let me approach. Ginger distracted him while I snuck up behind to wrap him in a blanket. As I drove to the vet's office, Ginger insisted on sitting beside the box on the backseat so she could comfort the cat. Sadly, the cat died the next day, but he died humanely because of Ginger's gentleness. ~ When Ginger wanted a treat, she would "ask" and when I said Okay, she'd open the basket and take just ONE! ~ Whenever she saw me putting on my shoes, she ran to the laundry room to pull her leash off its hook on the wall. She always wanted to go...anywhere! ~ Ginger always peed and pooped in a designated area in the back yard...always in her assigned spot. ~ She never left the front yard, even to greet the neighbors or their pets. The sidewalk was her border and she never crossed it without permission. ~ Ginger was completey attuned to every mood. I've never known another dog as fiercely loyal or as skilled in reading people. I wish I'd known about therapy dogs back then; she would have been perfect for that too. ~ Ginger was the best cuddler and liked to sleep with her head on my pillow. She didn't even snore! ~ Even though she did have people food once in a while, she didn't have bad breath! ~ She loved to be bathed and walked willingly into the tub or shower. She was always giddy afterwards! ~ She even liked going to the vet! She didn't balk when she saw the nail clippers or a needle.
Many years have passed, but people still talk about Ginger and what a Perfect Dog she was. My brother has a Black Lab and a Yellow Lab. Mac and Lucy are pretty close to perfect too!
