I think it is great that you know so much about this little dog and how special she was... seeing as you have such a great pic of her is is just fitting to tell the story.... your dad would love that you have cherished it enough to make such a beautiful LO! She was obviously very special to him.
man.... I'm sitting her bawling .... what a terrible ending to a beautiful life. The dog definitely was special and I think it's wonderful that you have the picture and the story. You did a great thing here.
This is another lo made at the crop I go to; although it looks very simple, I learned a number of new techniques. The centre of the 3 flowers, large circle and butterfly are metal. We used embossing tools for the 4 smaller things and Cuttlebug embossing folder for large circle on which we sanded and used Coffee Shop and Patina Glimmer Mists. Journaling reads: "I never knew Meg because she was my father's dog before he married in 1930. Dad was a keen fisherman and was often to be found on the banks of the River Severn at Tewkesbury. Meg's favourite spot was near the weir opposite the Upper Lode Lock where my uncle was lock-keeper. Meg used to jump into the water above the side of the weir, swim down, run up the bank and down again. One day she jumped down, couldn't scramble up and was drowned. My Dad rushed into the water to save her, only to save her body which he carried the half mile back home. Dad never talked about it to me but Mum told me he was distraught for some long time. After I was born we had a lovely black spaniel, Jim, whom we all loved dearly, but I always felt that no dog ever replaced Meg in Dad's affections." A sad story, I know and I didn't know whether to use this photo but feel sure Dad would have liked it!
