don't know how I missed this before; what a cool LO~ Love the clouds!! So sorry your first experience there was so awful, but glad you were able to go back with your friends!
Oh my, and yet your lo title sure brings on a chuckle! I'm glad you could do this page and that your gf's could help you move on a little! I luv the scene you created here! Beautiful photo too!
Sharon! I am absolutely LOVING your creative and fun (yes fun, even if it is about a bad experience, you made it fun!!) layout! The NY skyline, your clouds, the conversation bubbles, everything here looks amazing!!!!! I am happy that you were able to get over your fear - I dont' know if I would, if something that scary happened to me. Thank you so much for sharing this!
You're a beautiful lady, Sharon, and your friends are quite pretty as well. Love how you used the cityscape. Very creative design. (How scary for you in Central Park - I don't blame you for trying to scrap that memory out of your system.)
What an utterly fabulous lo!!! Your cityscape and clouds are absolutely amazing!! Love the title.. the row of roses, punch work and the perfect touch of the horse drawn buggy! Excellent photo and thought bubbles! Good that you went, any healing is better than none!
Whar a nighmare Sharon! No wonder you didn't want to go back! How very creative how you did the city-scape & clouds!! And crossing out the heart on your "thought"..... totally cute & clever! And the horse drawn cart is perfect!!!!! Love it all!
The title's tie-in with the Wizard of Oz's "lions, and tigers, and bears; oh my" is clever, and the way you have your arms linked in the photo also is reminiscent of when Dorothy and the tin man and scarecrow skipped down the yellow brick road. The cityscape you created is gorgeous, and I LOVE those clouds and thought bubbles. Great job!
During a visit to Central Park when I was 18, I had a bad experience. I was sitting in a horse-drawn buggy waiting for our tour to begin, when a strange man ran up alongside the buggy, grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me out of it. Fortunately, he did not succeed, but from that day on, I was convinced that Central Park was nothing but evil and I decided never to go back there again. Ever.
Two of my best friends, however, LOVE the place. They are sisters, both from the deep south. They don’t live near any major cities so they want to go to New York every time they come up to PA to visit. During their trip up in 2005, I agreed to go with them for the day. They knew my story, but we all agreed that it was time for me to put this fear of Central Park to rest, so with their help, I walked through the entrance for the first time in 27 years. I’m smiling in the picture, but inside, I was screaming. Still - I’m happy to say - I did it!
I haven’t been back since – but doing this with my girls helped me to at least partially put that nightmare behind me.
