awww, so sad that you only got to have him for a month,, I hate stories of dogs who are abandoned and abused, it's just so wrong. He was lucky to have at least been loved his last month with you guys.
Ugh - what a sad story!! In my book, those who abuse/neglect animals are among the worst of the worst. River was lucky to have the last few weeks of his life with such a wonderful family who loved him. You were lucky to have known him, no doubt, but he was lucky as well. Great layout and thanks for taking him in!!! xoxo
The April Lucky challenge inspired me to finally scrapbook this photo. Meet River he was part of our family for only a short time, but made a huge impact on all of us. A friend found him wandering her neighborhood with deep rust marks around his neck and covered in fleas and thin, he had obviousely been chained up and abused. She kept him a few days in her dog grooming business and realized he was an amazingly friendly little guy. Unfortunatly she had 3 dogs already at home so she couldn't keep him. She called and told us about him, she knew we had a big backyard, and three kids. We met him and the whole family fell in love. He was such a happy and friendly little man, always ready to play or shit depending on what we wanted. Loved to take walks and was really great with the kids. He was even a trooper when he got sick two weeks later. We had taken him to the vet but they hadn't tested for Parvo at the time. River died a week later. We had him for only a month but he made a huge impact on our family. TFL
