thoughtfully and beautifully done, Shawn - a lovely tribute to Miss Dickinson.
(actually, I just read Scrappetizer's comments and I have to say "ditto"!)
I am very much inspired by this. It has me thinking about who I would scrap...maybe Edgar Allen Poe - THAT would be wild, say? As always, you have created a mood and a statement and a wonderful composition with elements that honor Emily, as well as your dd. I appreciate that you take the time and trouble to share them with us.
Great page. I've always loved the chocolate brown and blue combination...it's just so visually stunning. I'm so impressed with the way you've tied so many different elements together so beautifully.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! This is FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!! Love what you did with that Friendly Forest pp.............you took in a whole different direction!!! LOVE it!!!
I also adore Emily Dickinson as I believe any girl with a heart and poetic streak does/did. This lo is very provoking for me...it made me want to do one of my grandmother with the same title. Well done again... I hope I can use all my ephemera of her with overwhelming the lo. I'll just lift you and see what happens!
Wow!! stunning, don't know where to start saying what I like best about this LO, just simply love it all. The whole theme amazed me, the poem, sketch everything, well done superb LO.
How awesome and amazing. A lot of thought and preperation went into this. All the elements are so wonderfully put together. Love the poem, great job on that~~~~
Permission to share with my class please? We just finished our poetry unit; I think they would get a kick out of seeing what other high school students do for projects.
This entire thing, from the theme to the lo, are phenomenal. I love this and it has already gone into the favs! Fantastic work. (And your DD is quite a poet.)
This is the best page I have ever seen to include a child's art!! I am always looking for ways to do things like this because I save so many of my dd's projects and writing -- This is truly outstanding!! Love it all!
Oh, Shawn, this is just amazing; love the meaning behind all the elements you used - how clever!! All these wonderful elements contribute in making this LO so unique and wonderful!! Great job!!
This LO is in memory of Emily Dickinson, and to highlight my dd homework.....she touches many tenth graders across America! LOL My daughter had to do a project on Because I Could Not Stop For Death. (center photo). She also had to write a slant rhyme poem similiar to Hope Is The Thing With Feathers (my dd poem is on the right).
I included~ *photo of Emily *biscuit recipe from 1800's (Emily loved to bake!) *flowers (Emily included posies with short verses to her friends, she also helped maintain the family garden) *bird image (Emily compared herself to a bird) *clock frame (Emily frequently wrote about death, eternity, time passing) *my dd's slant rhyme poem *metal heart charm (thanks Patty!)
This page was inspired by 2Dogs LO 'Little Miss Friendly"
TFL! I appreciate your comments :)
