This is absolutely fabulous! Your techniques are amazing! I just love the textures you have created and am trying to imagine how they look IRL when they look so lovely here. I really like the way you grouped these charming photos too!
The sentiment on this is what first got me! Perfect, heartfelt journaling of a couple wonderfully matched! Congrats on 18 yrs! My dh and I have been together for more than 28 ys. Love that hobby rope...never heard of it before. The texture on the pink heart is lovely.Nice detail stitches too. xx
Peggy, you shouldn't change it sweetie...it's beautiful!! You put your heart and soul into each of your layouts and it shows. Be proud of what you've done! :)
Don't change it Peggy! you have put so much heart and soul into it, not to mention all that hard work! we all feel like that with our LO's sometimes. I feel like that most of the time with mine. That's why it is great to post it here and realise that it probably isn't as bad as we think it is!! You've done a great job!
I love the stitching techniques you used on this LO. For me, it is not the pink that is overwhelming, but the blue. The blue on your shirt is so small that it does not justify the big blue presence on the LO. I think that if you would make the title black and the hearts black and/or pink, the whole LO would be more balanced.
The ONLY thing that "bothers" me about it...is that you're not sure you like it!!! I know we all second-guess ourselves with some of our creations, but WOW, Peggy....if it helps you to know (as the other ladies have said below) this is stunning!!!! The simple, but yet so innovative alternatives you find for other more "brand-name" type items (like the crackle paint) is ALWAYS something I admire and feel inspired about. I love the heart - it's gorgeous. The first thing I thought was so cool is if you give the paper a thoughtful look - - it's like dozens of hearts as well - - all stacked up...filling up the page with love! I love the outer edges....I'm in awe of all you ladies who do the stitching....I don't sew AT ALL and can't get over the hump of trying it. For me, it's not too pink around the border. And your pics - - what a sweet couple! And I love the Fleetwood Mac lyrics...such a gorgeous song...and those couple lines you've journaled just fit so well....you both look so content and happy and more than "alright" with each other. Guess, this is my long-winded ramblin' way to say....I wouldn't change a sweet thing!!!! Hugs xoxox, M
Peggy, don't touch this. It is gorgeous just as it is. And once again you amaze me with your creativity. Love the stitching. The heart is adorable. Another beautiful one from you my friend.
This is me and my husband. I tried to scrap one of these pics before in my LO "Adore", which is probably my least favorite of my whole gallery, so I decided to try again. And wouldn't you know it, this one isn't to my liking either, there's just something about it that bothers me. If you figure out what it is, let me know!
For those of you who do like it, I thought I'd give you the details of how I made this: I cut the photos to a square size, outlined the edges with a black marker, and matted them on a piece of black cardstock. For the background I wanted a big pink heart, but with some texture. I think crackle paint would have looked great, but since I don't have that, I glued tissue paper to some light cardboard (cereals' packaging) and painted over it with watercolour paint. I glued it to the background paper and added some black stitches just for fun. I searched for an image of cupid on the net, printed it out and cut it out with my scissors and cutting knife. For the little hearts I used plain cardboard from cereals' packaging again, which I covered (twice) with blue stickles. I then added the title, which I wrote on white cardstock, coloured in with regular colouring markers and cut out with scissors and a craft knife, together with the lyrics from the Song Bird Scraps March Challenge, which I thought were perfect for this picture. After 18 years of being together with my husband, I still feel it's alright!
It still looked a bit unfinished to me, so I glued pink hobby rope around the outer edges and stitched around them with black yarn. This is the same 3D-stitching technique I used on my previous LO. Though it adds the perfect finishing touch to a LO (it really is a pretty frame), I think in this case the pink is a bit too overwhelming. I'm still thinking about cutting it off and adhering the then smaller LO on plain black cardstock, what do you think? Let me know, please, I so would appreciate your thoughts about this!
TFL and any input would be highly appreciated! xxx Peggy
