Love everything about your lo!! Steam Funk is the PERFECT name for this - softer & sweeter than Steam Punk :) You can tell how special your relationship was just by how you created your lo - it says it all :)
I forgot to mention... I also love the way you did the grass and that adorable little tree! You and your grandpop are sitting perfect on that little bench!!
I love this LO. It's creative and gorgeous! It all looks so well together that it looks like it was meant to be that way! The journaling is very heartwarming. I believe God made some people just to be grandparents, because the warm the soul of their grandchildren. I believe your grandpop was one of those people!
This is SO AMAZING!!!! Gorgeous use of photo and graphic elements. I love the tree and the 50'd era details on the side- small bits that liven up an already awesome design.

Not sure what steampunk is but I know magical when i see it! Awesome Lo and thank you so much for sharing the journaling. he sounds like a very special man!
I'm just now starting to understand what steampunk is all about, but I absolutely love this and am truly inspired to give one a try myself. You are very creative and this is a wonderful memory.....straight to my faves!!!!
I don't know if this is "Steam Punk" or not,so I guess it's my version.Steam Funk,maybe?Anyway.....That's a photo of my grandpop and me taken in Jacksonville,Fla in 1966.I was 4. I cut out the sun, sun's rays, and grass from Graphic 45 pps.I fringed the edges of the green striped pp to give it more texture.Just cut slits over and over again. Then sprayed edges with my TH water mister and kinda splayed the grass out a bit so it didn't look so even. Then let it dry,and inked it.I love the effect!I FINALLY got some Dusty Attic products and am sooo pleased with them!My thanks to Tracy,(Stay true to God) for setting some aside for me before she was sold out! Please visit her website at StaytruetoGod.com!You won't be disappointed!I thought long and hard about what to do with them!I knew when I ordered the bench, that I would use it with this photo!Howeer,I had NO idea I would end up cutting OUT the photo! And thus evolved my "steam punk/funk" lo!I colored the "wrought iron" parts of the bench with a plain black sharpie, then used Smooch for the slats.Love that stuff! The tree was cut out on my Cricut using the Heritage cartridge. The sunflowers were a vine by Prima, that I took apart. I googled vintage gumball macines, orangejuce ads,and pancake ads,cut them out and inked them.To understand why I added some of the elements that I did on this lo,I'll include journaling which is on the back.I posted another lo with the same journaling, but that was awhile back!It reads...
My grandpop Fred was really my step-grandpop,but he was more of a grandpop than anyone else I knew.In the morning ,he would get me dressed.(Notice my jumper on backward?),and make me pancakes. He'd usually burn them, but I didn't mind.Every morning we'd walk to the bank for a free cup of orange juice.(Banks did that back then!Coffee, too!)Then we'd go to the A&P to get a gumball.Grandpop only ever had but a few cents in his pockets. After that,we'd take our lunch to the park for a picnic. Our lunches consisted of a sandwich wrapped in wax paper.Usually pb&j.After we ate,we'd gather the seed pods from the mimosa trees, pop out the seeds, and flick them off of the concrete arms of the bench.Grandpop was such a dear, sweet, and loving man!He ws a true grandpop, and I loved him very much!
My grandpop Fred was estranged from his only child, and so never got to spend time and enjoy his own grandchildren. It's a shame they'll never know his kind and gentle ways, and what their parents deprived them of!He died when I was 10.I'm so blessed to have had him in my life!
