I did this lo for a challenge on another site
the challenge was to do a lo about being a mother

THe journaling is looooong, I know, so bear with it.

THe journaling behind the picture reads:
it’s Mother’s Day, 2005
and I have much to think about
it was three years ago on Mother’s Day
that I brought you home from the hospital

you were so tiny and perfect
and we were so excited to have you!
today you are intelligent, adorable,
and vibrant, to say the least

and very naughty sometimes

I have struggled with you today
you have such a strong mind
and we often butt heads
I thought about the days
before you could talk back

and I thought of a book we read sometimes
called “what did mommy do before you”
when I read the book, I always choke up
at the second to last page, which reads

“then one day, at the very same time,
two wonderful things happened.
you were born,
and Mommy became your Mommy,
just like that!”

it continues to say that we both knew just what to do

it hasn’t been like that for us, Hannah
I don’t always know just what to do,
and neither do you
it is my job to teach you,
but you can teach me, too!

as I look at this picture of you
only one week old
it reminds me of all the things
that you teach me everyday

I then listed those things on the tag:

laugh at anything
dance when there’s no music
getting dirty means having fun
anyone can be a princess
it doesn’t have to cost a lot
to be fun
the world is exciting
the world is beautiful
create your own reality
a smile can take you places
watching two children play
is wonderful
Jesus made us, Jesus loves us
using a nice voice
makes others happy
asking questions
gets you answers
there’s always tomorrow
life is good
