Sorry about the bad stitching job... it's clear irl!

My dd loves her special blanket...

journaling is behind the hinged photo...

When I was little, I had a special blanket that I loved. I even fished it out of the garbage several times when it was too tattered to be used anymore. It had toy blocks on it, if my memory serves me...so it was only natural for you to have a special blanket as well. Grandma McKnight made you several receiving blankets out of fabric remnants before you were born. Early on, it might have been because this one was just the right size and weight for swaddling that it became the most often used. By the time you were old enough to walk and carry it, this blanket was the one of choice. Not the one I had hand quilted for you...or the one with your beloved Elmo on it...this blanket, with flannel blue check print on one side, and white cotton with multicolored hearts on the other. When you sleep, you *must* have your “special blanket.” When you’re sick it never leaves your side. And when we leave town, it must go too. Each time you climb in your bed and snuggle down to sleep, it is snuggled up near your face. It does my heart glad to see how safe you feel as I look at these pictures of you, and your heart blanket. ~journaled August, 2005
