OH MY GOSH!!! Your LO is terrific. You matched the blue in her costume perfectly and I really like you used some of the fabric on the LO. How freakin' clever are you to do the CD as the journaling block. Super duper WELL DONE!
These are the group portrait and dress rehearsal pics from one of Cassie's 9 dances in her 2011 recital -- her Intermediate Jazz class. This dance was to DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love by Usher.
I always do a single page LO for each of her individual portraits that I try to match to the costume and song and a coordinating 2 page LO for the group portrait and action shots. I decided back when she first started having multiple dances in the shows not to try and reinvent the wheel each time, so they all have this format - group shot on the left and action shots arranged across the rest of the 2 pages with pp's and embellies that match the single portrait. You can see the single portrait LO for this dance as well as my other completed dance LO's in my Dance LO Album in my Gallery.
I splattered black mist and black paint on the urban, grungy bg pp, but I covered most of it up with photos. This costume came with a hat that the teacher cut into headbands instead, so I found the remnant of the hat to include some of the fabric on the LO - I didn't have it available when I did the single page of her portrait. Here, I used it as part of the mat for the group portrait. I also used a scrap of black netting fabric that I had that has a similar pattern to the sleeves of the costume. To continue with the DJ theme, I used an old CD as the journaling block - the info includes the class level, teacher, day & time of the class, and the names of the girls in the dance.
