If you hadn't pointed out all the 'flaw' in the photo no one else would know. But I do know that in dance those things are important, the pink tights showing would have made me crazy if I saw a dancer on stage that way!
Wonderful use of the transparency and mulberry papers. I also like the punch you used - very 'broken'.
My dd was in 9 dances in her recital in 2011 - two of them were for her Intermediate Modern class. They only had us buy a 'real' costume for one of the two. For this one, they just wore a black leo and leggings and a white tank. Of her nine portraits, I only really like three, two are 'okay,' and two are terrible. The other two are not bad photos, but her expressions don't fit the dances so I don't really like them. This is one of the ones where her expression doesn't fit the dance - the song is Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri and the mood is more serious so I wish we had chosen a different kind of pose. I also have issues with her pink tights showing at the knees, but that's just me. You can see the LO's I've completed for other 2011 dances and earlier years in my Dance LO's Album in my gallery. All her professional dance portraits have been taken by Cass Photography.
The white heart print pp and the red torn piece are mulberry paper. The punched mat is a red lame paper. The red flourishes and black edges are on a 12x12 transparency. I made the foil heart 'broken' by cutting it apart in a zigzag. I used black brads in the center of the three largest butterflies, which I punched from red faux suede paper and are on top of the transparency, to help hold everything together.
