I just ignore the window or put a random photo in it, I like your idea better really should attempt to do something with it.

2008 Album 4 Cover detail

I try to avoid albums with cover windows, but that is becoming nearly impossible. This is what I did to fill the window on my October - December '08 Album. I wanted it to thematically match the title page in my Jan-April '08 Album and the cover windows of my May-June '08 and July - September '08 Albums, so I used some of the same pp's, banners, and the same font for the 2008:
