this is beautiful, Pat...you have an incredible way with words, too. I love reading your remarks about your pages, your photos, and just little tidbits you say here and there. I wouldn't have ever thought to take a pic first thing on January 1st, but I like that idea. What a great way to start the year. Your horses don't look starving to me, either. I'm sure they're taken very good care of :) Beautifully done.
This is magic Pat. A brilliant way to start the year and a great idea for the monthly challenge. I love the flower clusters and the distressing around the middle paper. Your ink work is always inspiring. I am impressed that you stand out in that cold and take such a momentous photo! Love your work can't wait to see more of.
Pat, I always do the same thing, I try to photograph the alt sunset of the year, and the first sunrise of the year, which this morning wasn't that great, mainly because I did not get up until 8:00am, but I did get it. Our temperature is 74 degrees as I type this. I feel for you my friend. Happy new year!!
I usually get a good start on my Project 52 every January, although I'm not always able to keep the momentum going. But I'm nothing if not determined, so I'm going to have another go at it in 2018.
The years when I make an EFFORT to document, things just seem to go better. The years are more memorable, or maybe it's just because the documentation MAKES it so. Whatever the case, I've been seriously looking forward to the arrival of 2018, and I'm more excited to see it arrive than I can ever remember.
I always photograph the sunrise on January 1. It seems like an auspicious way to start the year. Sometimes the sunrises are spectacular - if there are clouds, the colors are incredible. Sometimes, like today, the sun just rises into a gradual brightening of the horizon and before you know it, it's dawn.
The horses are toasty in their winter blankets. It's 4 degrees here this morning, but the water is running, the tank heaters are working, there is hay out, so nobody will starve ~ although to look at these two you can just tell that they THINK they're starving. But under those blankets is a pair of chubby horses. It's too cold to ride, so they're not getting any exercise.
I, on the other hand, am getting PLENTY of exercise schlepping buckets and putting bird seed in the feeders and filling the chicken feed and feeding the horses and tossing alfalfa and checking water troughs and all the other gazillion things that need to be done before the day can officially start.
Hello 2018. Glad you're here at last!
~
The paper is a little wonky because I did some pretty serious water distressing on it, which causes it to curl a bit. It'll lie flat in my album, but it does make it look a little funny...
Several Challenges here 1. Anything Goes ~ #1 of 4 for the monthly challenge 2. Scrap Your Pet 3. ABC Challenge ~ Aqua, Buttons, Cherish 4. Monthly Sketch ~ Sketch #1 5. Design Seeds 6. January First Photo 7. AGC Project Life ~ Week 1
It also fits the Anything Goes 1-1 Challenge of using a paper that is champagne colored. (I think the base paper fits).
