It's always best, when you've been away from a skill for a while, to start slow. That's what this is.

I've not really touched my scrap desk in over a year. I've just had a very full, very busy 2020 and I've got the photos to prove it. I'm hoping to get most of them scrapped in 2021, as well as documenting THIS year.

That's what this project is. My annual January 1 sunrise photo - and wow, did 2021 come in with a bang or what? Six inches of sticky, snowman snowball snow, and not a snowplow in sight because it's New Year's Day and they're all stuck in the city helping people who need to get out and about. What about me? I'd like to get out of MY driveway at some point, but I guess it's not to be.

So what to do? I can't box up Christmas - my traditional New Year's Day activity - because all my Christmas storage boxes are stored in my storage unit in town, and did I mention that there's no way out of my driveway or down my quiet country road? So, I put some Hoppin John in the crockpot - because after 2020, there is no WAY I'm not eating black eyed peas on New Years Day - and sat down at my scrap table.

Did I mention that I haven't touched my scrap table in over a year? So first there was "clean up the bits and pieces that have been accumulating there to "deal with later" and then see if the laptop will fire up because it's about ready to go to the computer graveyard. And while the laptop worked, the photo printer did not do as good a job as it could because -- the ink, a year, I think you get the idea.

So that means a trip to Staples at some point this week to get fresh ink and get a decent reprint of this photo because it really was a spectacular sunrise - except there was no sun because -- SNOW.

Anyway. It feels great to be back at my desk, but I haven't been actually IDLE. I've spent quite a bit of time cleaning up and reorganizing things, and what I've come to realize in that process is this.....

I have too much crap. I need to RELEASE some of it, and I have a kind of plan for doing that. I'm going to use this year to figure out the stuff that I'm not using, and if I don't touch it this year, it's going out. That means ... well, stayed tuned for another round of "Pat's DeSTASHifying" and that means that there are RAKS in our future!

Hi everybody! It feels really REALLY good to be back - seeing old friends and hoping to meet lots of new ones.
