As I sat down for lunch today, I was inspired by my place mats- Ikea's black and white striped Ljuda. I thought they would make a lovely background for a LO! This is a 2 page layout- LHS is a 12*12 and the RHS is an A4 /letter size which folds out (so essentially 2 A4s bound together). I gessoed and prepped both the sides and painted bold black stripes across the page. Also used textural paste, white and gold inks. I used a beautiful rose stencil with the paste and white ink which is mostly covered by the embellishments...but that's the nature of mixed media. Though you can spy some of it peeking out here and there especially on tha RHS page. All the wooden frames were heat embossed with many layers of Gold and UTEE powders to create the uneven bubbly shimmery effect. This page also involved lots of dusting and cleaning of my sizzix bigshot! ;-) All the leaves and vines, some flowers etc were diecut. The second page (RHS) was supposed to have aphoto of all 3 of us however, hubby spilled some coffee over it so have sent it for reprinting. Once it's here, plan to add it onto page 2. The journaling is on vellum which is attached to the RHS (2nd page) by washi tapes so it flips open like a book.
I wrote the journaling about my furbaby and hubby and then handed the laptop to my hubby to write something about me. When I got it back I could see that he had edited some of my text which was hilarious so I kept it intact!

Families Are Like Fudge- Mostly Sweet, With Lots Of Nuts!
This certainly holds true for our family.  We are all great combinations of sweets and nuts :) Our beautiful fur-baby, Mowgli, always has a huge smile and happy, shiny eyes ready for us on any day and any occasion. Even if we are sleepy or tired she has the enthusiasm that only a Goldie can have. Any worries on your mind, just take Mowgli to the park and let her run at full speed, tongue hanging out and a big smile plastered on her face! She is such a kind, sensitive and loving soul! Sometimes, she goes a bit crazy as she becomes frightened of passing around wall corners one day and then the next, she is completely oblivious of the nasty, scary danger of "corners" (what was scary about wall corners anyways?!) Same goes for rain, fireworks, balloons and aeroplanes!
  
Anders is a sweet, happy husband who is always optimistic and appreciates the little things. He is the MOST amazingly generous husband that ever existed in this solar system (ahem... wonder if anyone will spot  that the husband added something to the journaling?). The crazy bit is about (an unverified claim by the wife!!!) that he at times can be a bit chaotic and disorganised. We are talking about last minute booked tickets, no hotel rooms in advance, last minute gifts; waking up with a sudden strong jerk and jumping out of bed every morning effectively waking someone else in the same bed (even if they don't want to be woken up!... HINT, HINT from wifey...)

Avantica is the most amazing wife and beautiful beyond belief with a kind, intelligent, exciting and loving personality (YES, husband wrote this.... NO, he was not bribed - he actually thinks so!). Avantica can be hilarious and crazy when she speaks in funny cartoon voices and comes up with funny names for things or wacky words/phrases. She has a very good sense of humour. However, once in a while wifey also makes up funny names about husband that husband has not pre-approved! Husband has suggested to wifey to refer to husband as "esteemed amazing godly handsome stud with creative and intelligent powers”, yet this title doesn't seem to stick with wifey despite many attempts by husband! She sometimes even calls husband 'stinky balla' or 'skat' meaning treasure or tax (in Danish) depending on the interpretation. Odd, maybe husband is not explaining the title right to wifey. ;-)
