Such a handsome boy (if I do say so myself)....love me some Chester boy!

He'd just been to the groomer a week before....was sporting his styling new "vacation" bandana (made by my Mom) and was very intently watching the family of deer nibbling on the bushes right outside the gate of the place we were staying at in Central Oregon last June. This time he just watched....not so much when we took him for a walk about an hour later and he caught sight of more Bambi's.

My sister and I were walking along chatting and not really paying attention, when suddenly I went flying and the leash was ripped out of my hand.....Chester was a blur o' fur as he tore down the path after the deer...Jana and I were trying to keep up....hard to give the command to "leave it" and breathe, while running and laughing at the same time. Chester just thought they were really huge dogs and he needed to check it out.

What seemed like 4-ever was really only a few seconds and he regained his senses and realized I was calling him....he stopped and swung around looking at me and panting...then he'd look back in the direction of the deer, then back at me, then to the deer. He took a couple leaps like he was going to take off again and I told him to drop and threw in a "don't even think about it, Mister!"

He stopped and we caught up to him and he was dog-tired :-) and looking for a drink. Quite the adventure for the boy! And for us...still makes me gasp for air, thinking of hoofing it after him like that.

I trimmed a little corner of his bandana and used a paw brad and the ribbon to place it on the page.
