I don't know why but I got an itch to do a 12x12 tonight. It was a nice change of pace, had some room to work with! The picture scanned weird (as usual - something with my scanner not liking pictures) and the little flower is actually a lot more toned down IRL, not so bright and orangy, it really matches!

Journaling:
It’s hard to believe that three years ago I was apologizing for missing Christmas parties and celebrations, telling everyone that I delivered the best gift of all a couple days early: a beautiful baby girl.

The past few years have flown by. I know it sounds cliché, but baby it is so true. You have turned our lives upside down, inside out, and back again every day since you were born. You have the power to make me laugh and cry in the same minute, to make me feel like super-mom when I kiss a booboo better, and to turn me into a complete fool in front of strangers just to see you smile. You fill my soul with pride when I look at you, hear you speak, watch you learn to read and write, and observe you as you become a beautiful, independent little girl.

Each year as this season comes around, I am reminded how thankful I am for all the big and little blessings in our lives. But for the past three - and every year for the rest of my life - one thing will dominate my thoughts around Christmas more than any other: how truly blessed I was to be given a gift, a beautiful baby girl that cold, icy morning of December 23rd, 2003. The greatest gift ever.
