We were not close to my dad growing up - my parents got divorced when I was 10, and we only saw him a few weeks a year. From 10 till 29 I did not have a relationship with my father. Thanks to my husband's intervention, I was able to forgive him for the hurt and absence, and saw him more within the next 3 years than I had in the preceding 19.

When my dad passed away in 2007, we only received 1 suitcase with a few items of his. Amongst them were photos of dad in the Navy in the 1960s. Part of therapy for me was scrapping this page, using the original photos (in photo corners, so no tape touched them). The nautical embellishments are resin made, found a local craft shop. The buttons my mom had in her stash of sewing supplies.
