Hi Peeksneekerdo - I do my extractions by hand - saving up for a decent commercial grade extraction plug in but very expensive and the cheap ones are not accurate enough at times. I use a mix of magic wand tool, (varying the tolerance level as appropriate), magnetic lasso tool and eraser tool with varied difference size and shapes. Working out how to finish edges off is always a bit tricky. Sometimes a clean false edge is required with a little burn or dodge to ease the pain, other times duplicating the layer and reducing the opacity of the second layer and messing with the edges works well - particularly for hair when you need to preserve transparency. I guess I hash it a bit, all depending on the situation. The dark background on this one hid a multitude of sins!
Stunning...!
I wish I could understand extractions more....I need to learn..
Yours are so "Crisp" "Clean" lines..How you do it? I use the
Eraser tool...still get the up-close pixelation though..
Anyway...I LOVE IT!!
I extracted this photo from one where she was literally hiding in the open boot of my car - look at her guilty smile! I had a lot of fun playing with the background for this one. Disliked the carboot interior look lol, so thought I would go for a more interesting texture. Thank you, photoshop!
